My phone has been acting up lately. I don’t have a Smartphone, but desperately need to get one. I am stuck with a Samsung tailored to Metro PCS, and not a very good one at that. You can’t really beat the unlimited service and amazing prices, but I think it’s time for a change. I have stuck to my guns long enough now. I use to think that the phone craze would die out so I neglected to spend big on a cell phone. This was probably due to the fact that I am sort of anti-trend, and that my average phone life was less than 3 months. In spite of all this, I am extremely tempted to get the new iPhone 3Gs.
I am an avid reader of new content related to technology and the web world. I frequently visit Digg, Mashable, Smashing Magazine, Alltop, and TechCrunch, as well as other great sources of content. I’ve read way too many blogs and articles that talk about the cool new things that people have been doing with their new iPhone, and unfortunately I have succumb to the power of Apple. It may just be that Apple is buying off all of these websites to write great reviews on their products (which actually makes sense now that I think about it); but they got me. So, without further ado, here are my top 5 reasons why I am personally getting the new iPhone 3Gs.
1. Find my iPhone (Mobile-Me) – This super cool app allows you to find and locate your iPhone from the internet. Check out this blogger who put it to good use, he actually tracked down where his iPhone was and got it back from the person who took it.
2. Intelligent Object Recognition – This isn’t out now, but it soon will be. The iPhone will be able to view an object, and tell you information about it. For example a product at the super market, it can tell you the price, competing prices and different stores, and facts about it. If you are at an art museum and it views a painting, it can tell you facts about the piece, as well as its artist. Think of all of the possibilities. You can read more about it here . 3. Fitness Apps – Maybe it’s my age, lifestyle, or the fact that I am from California where healthy living is highly valued, but I am really into health and fitness. There are so many apps to make this type of lifestyle organized and efficient. From calorie trackers, nutritional advice, personal training tips, and even motivational apps, there are hundreds of apps that can help you maximize your workout. 4. Academic Apps – For those of us furthering our education, there are many apps that can help you organize your academics. There is an app called Assignments that allows you to keep track of your class assignments, track due dates, make reminders, and even communicate back and forth with your professor. Most schools also have mobile apps for iPhone that connect online academic platforms such as blackboard, which is extremely useful for most students. Find out more about academic apps here.
5. Video Camera- The new iPhone comes with a 3 megapixel camera so you can shoot high quality videos at any time. There has been countless times where I wish I had a video camera to capture moments that would have been great to share with my friends and family. With the iPhone, you can do this, and immediately share.
These 5 reasons are the best features that would benefit my life right now and make the iPhone appealing to me. The good thing about the iPhone is that I’ll probably figure out apps that I had no idea existed, and they’ll come in handy as well.
